Jamie Leventry Bio
Coach Leventry has a long and impressive coaching background.
He was the Head Coach at Washington College from 2012-2023 leading the program to some of the best seasons in program history.
Prior to coaching at Washington College, he spent a few seasons at Goucher College where he served as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
Before entering the college coaching ranks, Coach Leventry was the Head Coach at Severna Park High School from 2006-2009. He led the team to two conference championships and helped many players move on to play in college at all levels.
Coach Leventry has also coached club volleyball for over 20 years. He's coached all age groups from 12 and under up to 18 and under.
He is currently the head varsity coach at Queen Anne's High School leading them to a conference championship this past season.
Tony Sunga Bio
Sunga comes to South Dakota Mines from Simpson College where he was the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator since 2013. During his time at Simpson he was also the head coach of the Central Iowa Select team for three years where he led and trained them to two USA Volleyball Girls Championships.
Prior to Simpson, he was the head coach at NCAA Div. I Drake University from 2011-2013. This was his second stint at Drake as he was the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator from 2005-2008. In between Drake, he was the assistant coach at the University of Wyoming from 2008-2010. Sunga helped transform the Cowgirls into a contender in the Mountain West Conference. Wyoming saw a 17-game improvement during his three seasons in Laramie, going from five wins in 2008 to 22 wins in 2010.
Sunga's first full-time assistant role was at Simpson where he was the assistant volleyball coach from 1993-1997 and assistant women's basketball coach from 1996-2000.
Sunga holds a BA in International Relations/Political Science and a Master's of Arts in Teaching from Drake University.
Sunga and his wife Melissa have three sons: Michael, Phillip, and Daniel.
Ivana Trencheva Bio
With over 9 years of international coaching experience, she currently serve as the Head Coach for the 16U Cape Coast Volleyball Club and as an Assistant Coach at the Florida Institute of Technology. Her extensive playing career spans over 15 years, including competitive indoor, beach, and grass volleyball at Pirin Razlog Academy in Bulgaria, as well as at the D1 collegiate level in the United States.
She combine her business knowledge with her passion for sports to guide players toward personal and athletic growth. Her goal is to help athletes develop both on and off the court, enabling them to reach their full potential while navigating life’s challenges
She is currently focused on evaluating players in Bulgaria and Florida, with the aim of helping them find the best college opportunities. By prioritizing their individual needs and guiding athletes toward making informed decisions that will shape their academic and athletic future.
Planning for the 2025 season has begun.
The clubs have been chosen for a variety of reasons. For some there is long lasting relationship, for others it is their focus of putting kids first, doing the right thing (although none of us are perfect) and the vision of the club. The partnership is key as the values of each of these clubs is congruent with the vision and goals of Varsity Athlete and excited to see the opportunities that will arise.
